Basket Making Workshop for Beginners

Since 10th October 2011 we have been running a basket making workshop for beginners in our new 60ft x 40ft showroom in Bangor-on-Dee.

The basket making workshop will teach you the basic techniques of basket weaving and give you hands-on experience in using our simple hand tools and materials to create your own round wicker basket to take home and treasure!

The craft of basket making is fascinating in that it is completely sustainable and environmentally friendly, with all waste being natural and bio-degradable.

Ken Griffiths

You will use the same tools and techniques used by basket makers for hundreds of years. All our baskets are made without machine tools in the way they were when the business was started in Bangor-on-Dee well over 100 years ago. Even better, you will be trained by Robert Johnson and Ken Griffiths, who both have decades of experience in the basket making craft.

The workshop is run on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and includes tea/coffee and biscuits. You can be assured of an informative experience and plenty of fun under the careful guidance of Ken and Rob. Your basket will be original and hand-made in Wales by you!

Numbers per session are limited so that we can give everyone individual assistance and guidance. As this is a hands-on workshop we recommend that participants wear work clothes.

Cane chair re-seating classes are also available at the same time, run by Colin.

Coracle making workshops can be provided by special arrangement.

We also offer Bushcraft, Survival, Wilderness Living, Hunter Gathering and other Nature courses by special arrangement. (Wildwood Woodcraft on the booking form)

Adults: £20.00
Children 5 to 18 years & Senior Citizens: £15.00

Price includes all materials, and tea, coffee and biscuits
